Through our Bankside Urban Forest initiative, we have delivered new green spaces in the streets across Bankside, ranging from public realm transformations like Keppel Row to temporary and creative projects like the Metal Box Garden on America Street.
Access to green space is a top priority for businesses in the area. Through the Bankside Urban Forest initiative, a wide range of new green projects have been and continue to be implemented in the streets across Bankside, ranging from transformations like the Stoney Street Green Wall to temporary and creative projects, like the Better Air Benches delivered through the Low Emissions Neighbourhood.
Since 2013 we have employed an urban gardener to help us maintain these spaces. Better Bankside is the first Business Improvement District to attain a Green Flag Award recognising the quality of its management of its on-street green spaces across the area. The spaces have also been recognized by the Royal Horticulture Society’s London in Bloom Awards, achieving best in Category for Urban Community in the 2023 Britian in Bloom Awards.
