The Bridge

The Bridge has been supporting women’s health and wellbeing since it was set up in 1932. Today, it is guided by its vision of a society where equity is the norm, where all women’s voices are heard, and where their health and wellbeing rights are respected and met.

The Bridge supports women who are living with anxiety, depression, or stress-related illness, those who are feeling isolated or who need help to lead a healthier life.  Projects include The Hub, which offers activities such as coffee mornings, educational talks on women’s health, fitness classes and mindful creative activities; Dine, a ‘pay what you can’ monthly supper club that aims to tackle food access inequalities in Southwark; and the Friday Mums Project, designed to support women through the first year of motherhood in all its complexity, challenges and joy.

Opportunities to get involved:

  • Move Mate partners volunteer gym buddies with one of the women supported by The Bridge’s health and wellness programmes. No need to be a fitness expert or very fit; it’s about providing support to train together for one hour per week.  Buddies get membership of The Bridge’s gym for the 12 weeks of the programme.  Coaches are on hand to support everyone on this programme.  Please note, this volunteering is for women only.
  • Share your skills and knowledge by facilitating workshops on topics where you have expertise, for example, budgeting and finances, presentation or personal impact.  These workshops can be delivered for a number of The Bridge’s projects.
  • Partner with The Bridge to co-design opportunities tailored to your organisation’s skills, interests and capacity. Opportunities include volunteering with the Dine supper club to help plan, cook and serve a plant-based and nutritious meal for guests.
