[post_content] => Join fellow Bankside volunteers for this beach clean on the Thames foreshore, led by our recycling partner Recorra, to help remove plastic waste from the banks of the Thames.
You'll be surprised at the volume and variety of plastics found by the river; helping to remove these will make an immediate difference to our local environment and wider marine ecosystems.
We'll meet opposite Marsha restaurant / Gourmet Pizza on Gabriel's Wharf at 10.00am for a briefing from Recorra before heading down to the foreshore, where we will work our way back towards Bankside.
Please wear suitable, closed-toe shoes. We are running this event during low tide, but the surfaces along the Thames can be slippery. Please also dress appropriately for the weather. High-vis jackets, bin bags, litter pickers and gloves will all be provided.
Once the beach clean is completed, we will send you a certificate with the amount of waste collected by everyone.
As these events are always popular, there is a cap of 6 people per business.
If you register but can no longer attend, please cancel with as much notice as possible to allow someone from the waiting list the opportunity to take your place.

Plan Zheroes has been running surplus food collections at Borough Market since 2014. They help ensure that any of the incredible food that cannot be sold but is still perfectly good to eat reaches good causes, rather than going into landfill.
Join this small team of volunteers to work with Plan Zheroes to collect surplus items from traders at Borough Market, help weigh and log everything that is collected, and ensure it is ready for local charities and community groups to pick up from the Plan Zheroes collection point.
As there are limited spaces, this volunteering event is only available to people who work for one of Better Bankside's members, and we are capping spaces at one per member.

[post_content] => Working in pairs, volunteers will conduct short interviews to help young people participating in Bankside Futures this summer gain valuable experience by answering questions about themselves and their achievements.
In addition to a briefing at the start of the activity, you will receive an interview guide to help you prepare and conduct interviews, including a set of interview questions and feedback forms.
At the end of the activity, your feedback will be collected and discussed with the Bankside Futures team so that recommendations can be shared with the young people to help them prepare for real-life interviews.
One or two "remote volunteers" are needed who can host online interviews, given how commonplace these are now. The Bankside Futures team will set up the online interview, so you will just need to log on from your device, whether you are in the office or working remotely.
You don't need to be an HR professional to sign up for this activity, as it's a great way to develop your skills and confidence as an interviewer.
Participation in this event is limited to individuals who work in Bankside.

[post_content] => This fast-paced volunteer activity is an opportunity to help local young people practise their networking skills and build their confidence to talk to new people. Networking is a vital part of everyone’s career, but many of us still find it daunting. So this event is also a chance to practise your own networking skills and get to know volunteers from other Bankside businesses.
Ahead of the event, the Bankside Futures team will share an overview of the types of questions to expect from the young people, focusing on your current role and career pathway, along with tips for handling difficult or personal questions.
There will also be a full briefing at the start of the event before the young people arrive. It's a great opportunity for anyone who wants to build their confidence to network, making it an ideal volunteering opportunity for people in the early stages of their own career journeys.
Participation in this event is limited to individuals who work in Bankside.

[post_content] => Join volunteers from Bankside businesses for a hands-on volunteering day at the Lant Street estate during Volunteers Week, working together to help improve this much-loved community garden.
Delivered in partnership with Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) and the Lant & Bittern Streets Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, we'll be working at Lant House, which is one of the projects that BOST supports through its Green Hub programme. The residents there have formed a gardening group to improve and tidy up their area. They are now hoping to take their plans further and to establish more biodiversity and growing areas.
Volunteers will help them to achieve this by weeding, digging, mulching, composting, and pruning back overgrown shrubs to prepare the space for new planting.
The day starts at 9.30 am and ends at 4.30 pm, with refreshment breaks during the day. Lunch will be provided, and some residents will join for a light lunch and a chance to learn more about the Lant House garden and other projects to improve their estate.
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just keen to get stuck in, it’s a great opportunity to support local green spaces, connect with the community, and help Lant Street look its very best.
