The redevelopment of the former National Grid headquarters at 185 Park Street is now underway. London based developer Sons & Co is creating a brand-new mixed-use development consisting of 163 apartments, office space, retail and a landscaped pedestrian boulevard connecting Park and Emerson Street.
Squire and Partners’ consented designs for 185 Park Street create three elegant sculptural building forms within a landscaped park setting.
The mixed-use development provides workspace in a ten storey building, and two residential blocks – fifteen and nineteen storeys respectively – along with amenity at ground and lower ground, and retail and café spaces. Designs for the residential building elements are driven by optimising their slender footprints to be adaptive and maximise amenity space and local views. A gently twisting form, combined with undulating curved terraces wrapping around the exterior, affords the buildings a considered sculptural aesthetic.
