As part of the wider Voices in the Urban Forest commission undertaken by Gort Scott Architects, the gateway to Warden’s Grove was transformed into a micro-forest.
By removing under-used car parking spaces, new trees were planted in the street, complete with railway sleeper fenders to protect the trees and their understory, and to provide informal seating in the street.
Large panels situated under the railway bridge reference local heritage.
The project was delivered by Southwark Council, and funded through S106, Better Bankside and Mayor of London.
