The Better Air Benches are colourful, moveable benches filled with plants that pop up in different locations across Bankside to raise awareness of air quality. Sadly, the plants inside the benches suffered during the summer heatwave, so we need your help to bring them back to life with a new planting scheme that supports biodiversity and will be more resilient to changing weather patterns. There are two sessions across the afternoon, please choose the time slot that you'd like to arrive from. You're welcome to stay past the finish time of your slot if you'd like to stay longer, or if you only have 15 minutes we'd still love to have you join us. To help kick off the sunflower challenge, why not come along to this seed-sowing session to plant your sunflowers and learn how to nurture them as they germinate into seedlings. This is a friendly, drop in activity, you can sign up for either the 12.30pm-1.00pm or 1.00pm-1.30pm session. If you have your own gardening gloves, please bring them along. You can also bring your own pots to use, we recommend repurposing things like yoghurt pots and take away containers (don't forget to wash them first!). Remember to wash your hands after this activity, especially before eating or drinking as you'll be handling soil. Please don't bring food with you, but you are welcome to bring a drink. The location for this event will be 45 Southwark Street, SE1 0HP just inside Flat Iron Square.
