One excellent way to feel better inside and better connected is by volunteering to make a difference to your environment.
Plastics are a problem on the Thames. Plastic waste consistently makes up over 60% of litter found on UK beaches and the issue with plastic waste is that it never disappears, it just gets smaller and smaller.
Join other Bankside volunteers for this morning clean-up on the Thames foreshore, led by Recorra, to help remove plastic waste from the banks of the Thames. You'll be surprised at the volume and variety of plastics that can be found by the river, helping to remove these will make an immediate difference to our local environment as well as wider marine ecosystems.
Meet at Gabriel's Wharf at 10.00am for a briefing from Recorra before heading down to the foreshore where we will work our way back to Bankside.
Please wear suitable, closed-toe shoes - we are running this event during low tide but surfaces along the Thames can be slippery. Please also dress appropriately for the weather.
High vis jackets, bin bags, litter pickers, and gloves will all be provided.
If you register but can no longer attend, please cancel with as much notice as possible to allow someone from the waiting list the opportunity to go in your place.
Click the register button above and use the password Bankside to get signed up for free.

[post_content] => Join our Urban Gardener Georgia to bring the Better Air Benches back to life with new wildlife friendly planting.
The Better Air Benches are colourful, moveable benches filled with plants that pop up in different locations across Bankside to raise awareness of air quality. Sadly, the plants inside the benches suffered during the summer heatwave, so we need your help to bring them back to life with a new planting scheme that supports biodiversity and will be more resilient to changing weather patterns. There are two sessions across the afternoon, please choose the time slot that you'd like to arrive from. You're welcome to stay past the finish time of your slot if you'd like to stay longer, or if you only have 15 minutes we'd still love to have you join us.
Please bring your own gardening gloves if you have some.

[post_content] => Join ghost signs expert Sam Roberts for the Bankside Ghostsigns Walk. We'll take a stroll through Bankside, and learn about the area's fading painted signs. Sam will tell the stories of the signs and the companies they advertised, including: production techniques; fake (or 'faux') ghost signs; the impact of the second world war; and the area's industrial heritage. This is all supported with a collection of archival photography and other contextual images.
The walk was originally developed for the London Design Festival in collaboration with Better Bankside. Many of the featured signs are feature alongside over 250 from across the Capital in the book Ghost Signs: A London Story, which is available to buy at the Bankside Gallery shop.
You are welcome to join this event if you live or work in Bankside.
