Is your business keen to be more energy efficient and reduce emissions?

Better Bankside has partnered with the Mayor of London on the Business Climate Challenge, offering 20 Bankside businesses the opportunity to reduce your office building’s energy consumption by 10%.
Emissions from heating and powering commercial and industrial buildings currently make up 36% of London’s carbon footprint. This pioneering initiative is a first for London and gives our neighbourhood the opportunity to become a catalyst for change.
With funding from the Mayor of London, the selected 20 businesses will receive customised expert advice and support over the next year to improve the environmental performance, health and value of your business’ building. In return you’ll be contributing to London’s target of becoming a zero carbon city by 2030.
The recruitment process will take place in March and the project will commence in April 2021. Find out more here.
We’re hosting a briefing session on Thursday 25 February from 12.30pm – 1.30pm for interested businesses. Attendees will hear from the project partners below to get a full understanding of what’s involved and the benefits for participating. There will also be plenty of time for questions.
- Better Bankside – Bankside’s Climate Action Plan
- Greater London Authority – the UK’s energy legislation and net zero ambition
- Bloomberg Associates – the global picture
- Turner & Townsend – an overview of the project’s business support and outcomes
- Q&A session
Who’s eligible to participate?
The Business Climate Challenge is targeted at medium sized (under 250 employees), office-based businesses.
Participants can be building owners, building management companies or building occupiers that have responsibility for, or a good relationship with building management.
Multiple organisations within a building can participate as a partnership. All participants should have the ability to make decisions to upgrade their building’s infrastructure.
The project is tailored to private sector businesses, however if you’re a public sector, charity or non-profit organisation we’d still love to hear from you and help make recommendations.
Businesses who do not meet all criteria but are still interested are invited to register their interest via the Eventbrite link below.
