You are warmly invited to attend the Better Bankside Extraordinary General Meeting, Tuesday 4 June 2024, 5pm, held at the offices of Boodle Hatfield, 240 Blackfriars Road.

The purpose of this Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) is to formally adopt the newly updated Articles of Association, the document that states the regulations governing our organisation.

Better Bankside was one of the first Business Improvement Districts (BID) in the UK, established in 2005. We are a partnership of local businesses, working closely with other community stakeholders to co-create a programme of projects and services that benefits the whole Bankside neighbourhood. Our core purpose is to support local businesses and make a positive impact in our community.

We recently commissioned an independent governance review, and have concluded the process of actioning recommendations to enhance best practice. The new ways of working are reflected in the modernised Articles of Association.

The Better Bankside governance model is designed to enable participation. We are committed to achieving a balance of representation, and enhancing diversity in all its forms, on the board and across our decentralised governance structure. We have adopted an open process of recruitment to the board and are seeking new voices as we approach the ballot and gear up for the 2025-2030 term. There are a number of opportunities to join the Better Bankside board and the EGM will be a chance to meet the board and find out more about getting involved in the governance. There is a simple process to become a member of Better Bankside which will allow you to vote at the EGM. In effect, we treat all levy payers as members, but formally joining Better Bankside will allow you to vote.

The draft Articles of Association are available to download here and the existing Articles of Association can be found here.

We hope you will be able to join us. Please RSVP to Nicole Gordon, CEO on  ng@betterbankside.co.uk

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Nicole on ng@betterbankside.co.uk
