Better Bankside’s Community Grants programme has recently awarded funding to nine local charities and community groups. These projects will make a real difference to our neighbourhood, and the people who call it home.
Grants worth just over £7,500 have been awarded to charities and community groups that support neurodivergent children and young people, new mums, community food growing, older people’s multicultural programmes, and more.
These are the organisations that have received funding from the 2024-25 grants programme:
- Autism Voice to offer social club activities for 16-25 year old autistic and neurodivergent young people.
- CareTrade will use the funding to install a greenhouse and three raised beds to grow produce for their Working Kitchen & Café.
- Draper Together will purchase new tables that will be used for their foodbank service as well as community events and activities.
- Elmington Community Garden’s grant will enable them to purchase a new water tank for allotments where residents grow fruit and vegetables.
- London Senior Social will be able to deliver singing workshops for older people from Southwark’s Afro-Caribbean and Spanish-speaking communities, working with a bilingual facilitator.
- Phoenix CIC will invest in laptops and phones for four additional caseworkers to help people experiencing homelessness and other housing issues.
- Pullens Tenants & Residents Association will be able to host regular film and food club evenings in the TRA Hall, bringing residents and neighbours together.
- StartWell will use the funding to run a weekly support group for mums and babies, with infant feeding education and individualised support.
- The Neurodiversity Family Hub will be able to repair and invest in additional books, toys and equipment for the Tiny Tribe playgroup for neurodivergent children aged 0-5 years.
Better Bankside’s Community Grant programme is funded by a proportion of the BID levy paid by Bankside-based businesses. The Responsible Business and Inclusion Theme Group oversees the grants programme, with all grant requests reviewed by members of the theme group, representing local businesses.
