Kickstart is a government scheme to help employers offer a young person the life-changing opportunity of a six-month work placement that will allow them to gain valuable work experience.
Businesses joining the scheme benefit from funding to cover salary costs at the national minimum wage for 25 hours per week for six month as well as an additional £1,500 per placement to help wrap around support costs. It is also an opportunity to test whether someone is a good candidate for a permanent role or apprenticeship with your business.
Join us at this Teams briefing to learn more about the Kickstart scheme and how your organisation can apply either directly to the DWP or through a Gateway. This event will be led by the Better Placed Kickstart Gateway, which is a joint initiative between Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham councils. As well as helping to coordinate placements, the Better Placed Gateway team can also provide additional support, especially for smaller organisations that don’t always have the resources to help a young person build their skills and progress into further employment.
If you’d like to find out more about the Kickstart scheme, you can read the Kickstart placement guide produced by London Councils or read more on the Government’s website.
This is an online event via MS Teams. Please register your space via Eventbrite using the password Bankside.
