This International Women’s Day 2022, we are celebrating the women of Better Bankside. With a female CEO, and nine strong females within our team of 12, we often can’t believe that we are still fighting for an equal place in the world. Of course, progress has been made substantially over the past couple of decades, but from our discussions with each other and other women, we know that fundamental prejudices still hold back so many girls and women from the opportunities we can take for granted.
So, this International Women’s Day, we are stepping up to recognise the significant impact that bias has on women’s equality. As individuals and as an organisation we commit to #breakthebias.
“I will support my female colleagues to rise above gender bias to succeed.”
“I will challenge people who interrupt or speak over me, my colleagues, and friends. Our voices should be heard.”
“We will celebrate the women leading Bankside businesses.”
“I will create opportunities for women from all backgrounds to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences.”
“We will help Bankside businesses to remove bias from their recruitment processes.”
“I will challenge colleagues who assign tasks based on gender rather than skills, ability or role.”
“We will organise events that are inclusive and safe for anyone to take part in and enjoy.”
“I will champion the work of women who make our neighbourhood greener and better for everyone.”
“I will not allow any gender to take away my power or make me think less of who I am.”
“I will act as a positive role model for younger women, empowering them to overcome discrimination and stereotyping and achieve their ambitions.”
Happy International Women’s Day to all the women of our Bankside neighbourhood and beyond. Together we can make a difference.
