Powered by the people of Bankside, the Better Bankside board is made up of local business leaders and other community stakeholders including landowners, residents and public bodies.
There are currently a number of opportunities to join the Better Bankside board and play a key role in shaping the future of the neighbourhood. As we approach the ballot this autumn, the board are leading on driving forward the strategy for 2025-30.
Meaningful participation in the co-creation and ideation of our programme is vital to ensuring that our work is valued and relevant. The board acts as a proxy to the membership and Better Bankside is committed to achieving a balance of representation, and enhancing diversity in all its forms on the board.
We are currently seeking a number of new business representatives to join the board. A recent diversity and skills audit of the board identified opportunities to diversify. Candidates from underrepresented groups actively sought, currently; women, under 40, and those from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Those in leadership positions within small businesses are particularly encouraged as well as representatives from within the hospitality and leisure, and internet software and services sectors.
Alex Wraight, Partner at Allies and Morrison commented on his experience, “Being a board director of Better Bankside has enabled me to build connections with other local business leaders and given me an insight into the factors that impact our area. It’s immensely rewarding to collectively develop strategies and work with the BB team to see our initiatives transform the area into a thriving, attractive district for residents, businesses and visitors alike.”
Susan Greene, MD at OTB Engineering has served as a BB board member for eight years, “ I have been a Board Member of Better Bankside since 2016.
