Better Bankside was one of the first Business Improvement Districts (BID) in the UK, established in 2005. We are a partnership of local businesses, working closely with other community stakeholders to co-create a programme of projects and services that benefits the whole Bankside neighbourhood. Our core purpose is to support local businesses and make a positive impact in our community.

We recently commissioned an independent governance review, and have concluded the process of actioning recommendations to enhance best practice. The new ways of working are reflected in the modernised Articles of Association, the document that states the regulations governing our organisation.

Other amendments have been made to the Articles of Association to bring up to date including provision to enable use of new technologies, improved clarity regarding Directors’ conflict of interest, standardised and more flexible delegation powers, and removal of masculine pronouns.

In order to formally adopt the new Articles of Association, we are required to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), to which levy paying businesses are invited to attend and cast a vote.

There is a simple process to become a member of Better Bankside which will allow you to vote at the EGM. In effect, we treat all levy payers as members, but formally joining Better Bankside will allow you to vote.

The draft Articles of Association are available to download here and the existing Articles of Association can be found here.

The draft Articles of Association will be adopted following the EGM if approved by the vote.
