On Friday 24 April, join a team of volunteers from across Bankside for a special St George’s Day–themed Kitchen Takeover at Blackfriars Settlement. Help cook and serve a traditional English roast with all the trimmings, followed by a classic English pudding, for members of the Crusoe Club, a social group for older, visually impaired people, run by Blackfriars Settlement’s Positive Ageing service.
Volunteers will prepare, serve and clear up – and you’ll also sit down to enjoy lunch with Crusoe Club members before joining them for a fun afternoon quiz.
Day Outline
- 9.00am-9.15am – Arrival and briefing
- 9.15am-12.30pm – Preparing and cooking lunch
- 12.30pm – Lunch served
- 2.00pm – Afternoon quiz and kitchen clean-up
- 4.00pm – Finish
As places are limited for this event, there is a cap of 2 people per business. This also means the group will be made up of a mix of Bankside businesses, making it a great way to get to know your neighbours while making a positive impact locally.
