Better Bankside is the lead partner in the Southwark Climate Collective, a year-long sustainability initiative providing free, expert support to 160 SMEs across the London Borough of Southwark. Better Bankside was awarded £653,000 from UKSPF to deliver the support to Southwark SMEs.
From ballet schools to bakeries, construction firms to consultants, and pubs to publishers, the programme welcomes businesses from all sectors, no matter where they are on their journey to decarbonisation. Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this unique initiative fosters a neighbourhood approach to achieving net zero, creating a community of local businesses to exchange ideas and accelerate climate action.
The programme is already making progress, with over 40 businesses having received audits in one of four key areas of operation: energy, waste, freight, or supply chains. Among the participants are the Unicorn Theatre, the Brunel Museum, Little Bread Pedlar, Southwark Cathedral, Southwark Playhouse, and Surrey Docks Farm.
Better Bankside is working with a range of Southwark businesses to deliver the Southwark Climate Collective – from technical expertise to venues and catering – and is proud to be championing all that Southwark has to offer.
