Southwark Climate Collective is a 12-month sustainability programme providing free, expert support for 160 SMEs across the London Borough of Southwark.

From ballet schools to bakeries, construction firms to consultants, and pubs to publishers businesses across Southwark are joining forces to tackle the climate crisis together.

Better Bankside is proud to lead the Southwark Climate Collective, a neighbourhood-wide initiative helping small and medium-sized businesses cut carbon, share ideas and take meaningful climate action. Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the programme brings local enterprises together to make sustainability simple, practical and impactful.

Since launching the Southwark Climate Collective has helped more than 40 local organisations shrink their carbon footprints – from cultural icons like Shakespeare’s Globe and Theatre Peckham to local heroes such as e-bike retailer Fully Charged, IT services provider Wanstor and the Burgess Sports charity.

Thanks to a £252,200 grant awarded in April 2025, the programme has expanded in to a second phase, which launched this September, reaching even more of Southwark’s diverse business community.

Phase two of the project offers tailored consultancy, expert-led training, and accredited Carbon Literacy sessions designed to turn sustainability goals into tangible action. Whether you’re just starting out or already making progress, these sessions help you measure impact, plan next steps and connect with others on the same journey.

These sessions will be delivered at accessible venues across the borough or online, and are available to employees of any Southwark-based SME who can sign up here.
