After a difficult couple of years, this winter brings new worries that affect all of us, but especially so for people already struggling, including those without a home, finding it hard to manage their mental health, and our older neighbours.
Now in its 16th year, the Bankside Christmas gift appeal is one way that Banksiders can share some kindness with people in the local community over the festive season. Over the years, your gift donations have helped thousands of people feel recognised and included at this time of year.
This year, we’re working more closely than ever with our charity and community partners to make sure that everyone receives a gift that is tailored to their needs. This means we’re doing things a little bit differently, but also making it easier than ever for people who work for Bankside businesses to get involved.
We’ve created bespoke wish lists for each hostel, charity, or community service, where they’ve chosen items of clothing, toiletries, food and other gifts that they know are needed by the people they support.
So you know, when you chose something to donate through our online wish lists, you’re giving a gift that will really make a difference this Christmas.
How to get involved?
We’re working with 20 different hostels, charities and community-based services in Bankside and across Southwark, to provide gifts for around 1000 people this Christmas.
All you need to do is select an organisation to support, click through to their online wish list and choose the items you’d like to donate. You can find details about the organisations we’re partnering with, and the links to their wish lists here:

We’ll be adding more organisations’ wish lists over the coming weeks, to make sure every project can benefit from Banksiders’ generosity this Christmas.
All donations need to be made by Monday 12th December, as all of the donated gift items can be delivered directly to the charities in time for their Christmas celebrations.
