This summer, local Bankside Charity Whizz Kidz is bringing back a beloved children’s character to the streets of Bankside.
Morph’s Epic Art Adventure in London is the UK’s first step-free art trail of its kind, hosted by Whizz-Kidz, the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users.
Better Bankside is delighted to be revealing it’s very own Morph as part of the Trail. ‘Dance-off Morph’ celebrates the uniqueness of the Bankside neighbourhood as London’s Other Side, where everyone is welcome to be who they want to be.
From 19 June to 20 August 2023, central London will be transformed when it hosts up to 70 super-sized sculptures of much-loved children’s TV character, Morph. Located alongside some of London’s most iconic landmarks, each Morph sculpture will be uniquely designed by epic, well-known and emerging artists, providing a fun family-friendly art trail for locals and visitors to follow.
The Better Bankside Morph will be located on the junction between Clink Street and Park Street and will be unveiled on 19 June ready to challenge any passerby to a dance-off! Created by artist Glen Brooks, the sculpture is 7 foot tall and bright and colourful, so please do share photos of you dancing with him using the hashtag #thisisbankside #MorphsAdventureLondon
A Trail Map and App will navigate the public through London’s famous streets including the South Bank of the River Thames and the historic City of London, helping them discover each sculpture and unlock a series of rewards and fun facts.
Whilst exciting and inspiring people of all ages to celebrate London through creativity, the trail will also increase public awareness about the need for young wheelchair users to be mobile, enabled and included in society.
When the Trail ends, the super-sized Morph sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for Whizz-Kidz.
