This September, we’re teaming up with Leaves Breathe again for an afternoon of gardening at Lucy Brown House, a sheltered housing unit near Borough Market, followed by a games evening with the residents.
Join volunteers from other Bankside businesses as you work under the expert guidance of the Leaves Breathe team to help bring some autumn colour into this ‘secret garden’ and then spend time getting to know some of the people who live at Lucy Brown House.
Event outline
1.30 – 3.30pm – Gardening Activity: tasks may include planting, pruning, weeding, and tidying the communal garden areas; helping to tidy and plant beds in the public areas outside Lucy Brown House.
3.30 – 4.30pm – Games with the residents: join in with cards, pool, darts and drinks, plus plenty of laughter!
You don’t need to be an expert gardener to get involved, as the Leaves Breathe team will lead the activities and brief you on the tasks you are assigned. All tools and refreshments will be provided, but please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for an outdoor activity, including closed-toe shoes. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water, a waterproof jacket, a hat, and sunscreen so that you are prepared for weather conditions on the day.
As places are limited for this event, there is a cap of 4 people per business. This also means the group will be made up of a mix of Bankside businesses, making it a great way to get to know your neighbours!
